Cast me Scarlet! - a blog post

And so it begins!

Auditions for the University of Kent Players next production, The Scarlet Pimpernel, have come to a close. And what a run it will turn out to be judging by the performances I have witnessed this week.

What a privilege!

Having experienced, and loved, the University of Kent Players’ debut radio play, The Philadelphia Story, I was jubilant when Vicky and Kevin, Director and Assistant Director respectively, asked me to support them in casting the radio play this year.

I was treated with such talent!

There was a great buzz in the room on both audition dates as both regulars and newcomers threw themselves into the action. It was especially great to see new faces to the Players give it their all!

My ears were tickled with French accents! Vrai et faux alike!

The Foley auditions delighted me with their squeaky doors, horse ‘n carts and more – vox machina style!

Those auditioning the part of Host lapped up the opportunity to display their improv skills. This was particularly exciting!

Great energy and great fun! The Scarlet Pimpernel is shaping up to be a great show for the Players. I look forward to seeing it all come together on the 30th November and 1st December at Mungos, University of Kent – a new venue for the Players!
