The University of Kent Players presented a live recording of The Maltese Falcon, a staged radio play performed outside in the Eliot Cloisters, Canterbury.
In this noir classic, detective Sam Spade gets more than he bargained for when he takes a case brought to him by a beautiful but secretive woman. As soon as Miss Wonderly shows up, trouble follows… Entangled in a dangerous web of crime and intrigue, Sam realizes he must find the one thing they all seem to want: the bejewelled Maltese falcon.

This was the first time that the University of Kent Players staged a production outdoors and as matinees. The plan was for people to bring picnics and blankets/chairs to enjoy these outdoor performances. Unfortunately, the British weather conspired against us and so the first of the performances was staged indoors at very short notice in a venue that the cast and crew had not worked in before. But that didn't stop everyone having an enjoyable time.
